{"id":1009,"date":"2010-08-24T06:52:09","date_gmt":"2010-08-24T10:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wilktone.com\/?p=1009"},"modified":"2023-03-27T09:37:51","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T13:37:51","slug":"guess-the-embouchure-type-bruno-schneider","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilktone.com\/?p=1009","title":{"rendered":"Guess the Embouchure Type \u2013 Hornist Bruno Schneider"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two in a row today. &nbsp;I recently came across another video of a horn player, Bruno Schnieder, with a quick close-up look of his embouchure. &nbsp;Take a close look at almost 1:00 into the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"656\" height=\"369\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cRXdL8dn3E4?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, there&#8217;s not enough in the video to see his <a href=\"http:\/\/wilktone.com\/?p=41\">embouchure motion<\/a>, but his mouthpiece placement is obviously upstream. &nbsp;Schneider is almost certainly a Low Placement <a href=\"https:\/\/wilktone.com\/?p=7337\">embouchure type<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">I like finding videos of Low Placement horn players, because so many horn teachers and horn texts are adamantly against this embouchure type. &nbsp;Actually, you can find lots of teachers on all the brass who think this embouchure is wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">It all depends on the player&#8217;s anatomy. &nbsp;Most players have the anatomy suited to a <a href=\"http:\/\/wilktone.com\/?p=12\">downstream embouchure<\/a>, but many players have the physical characteristics that make an <a href=\"http:\/\/wilktone.com\/?p=237\">upstream embouchure<\/a> work much better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Again, thanks to Bruce Hembd for <a href=\"http:\/\/hornmatters.com\/2009\/03\/too-lovely-for-words\/\">spotting this video<\/a>. \u00a0Now I&#8217;ve linked here on my blog to videos of three world-class horn players with Low Placement embouchure types, including with <a href=\"http:\/\/wilktone.com\/?p=483\">Dennis Brain<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/wilktone.com\/?p=316\">Phil Myers<\/a>. \u00a0Can anyone spot some more?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two in a row today. &nbsp;I recently came across another video of a horn player, Bruno Schnieder, with a quick close-up look of his embouchure. &nbsp;Take a close look at almost 1:00 into the video.
